Office Relocation Project

Helping a leading waste management company relocate their IT to their new premises.

The Challenge
Our client, an environment focused waste management organisation, relocated to a new three floor office in Burntwood, Staffordshire, supporting 250 users across 400 devices.

The move required a full IT relocation project, including the design and deployment of a secure, scalable network capable of supporting modern working practices, guest access and CCTV — all within a new‑build property with no existing infrastructure.

Vibrant Networks were appointed to plan, design and install the entire network environment, ensuring minimal disruption and long‑term reliability.

The project scope included:

The project involved the following:
  • Planning and designing the network.
  • Data cabling 300 CAT6E Data points, termination and testing using Fluke Testers.
  • Installation of Floor Standing Comms Cabinet 
  • Setup and installation of 6 x Zyxel GS1930 GB10 Switches using Fibre Links 
  • Configuration and setup of Zyxel ATP 500 Firewall 
  • Installation of 1GB Fibre Leased line 
  • Setup of VLans, Network and CCTV 
  • Setup of 6 x Zyxel AX210 WIFi6 Wireless Access Points across 3 Floors 
As the company in question was moving into a new-build property, all the ethernet cables and networking required needed to be installed. Vibrant Networks were commissioned to data cable, terminate and test all patch panels in the new 42 U Comms Cabinet. 

The Process

The first step was to run the data cables and route the cable bundles into the comms room. The process consisted of ensuring all the cables were of the same length and assortment. Once this was confirmed we could then link them into the comms room.

The next step was to unbundle the wires. After this, we separated the cables into twenty-four patch panel groups (patch panels contain multiple ports that help with organising cables. Each port has a wire that goes in a different direction). Having the cables sorted into the patch panels allowed us to sock the cables up (hold them together without mixing each group).

The project began with the structured routing and bundling of all data cabling, ensuring consistency, organisation and ease of management before terminating into the comms room.


Cables were grouped into 24 port patch panel sets, secured and prepared for termination. A new floor‑standing communications cabinet was installed, forming the central hub for the building’s IT infrastructure.


Over 300 network points were terminated across 13 patch panels, with all front‑facing ports, back boxes and faceplates installed. Every connection was rigorously tested using Fluke tone and test equipment, followed by live testing with NetAlly / Fluke testers once switches were in place.

The network was powered by Zyxel GS1930 48 port PoE switches with 10Gb fibre uplinks, managed via a core switch to ensure efficient traffic flow across the building.


To secure the network, a Zyxel ATP 500 Nebula Firewall was installed and configured. This provided advanced protection, including:


  • AI‑powered sandboxing
  • Gateway Antivirus (GAV)
  • Intrusion Detection & Prevention (IDS/IPS)


VLANs and subnets were configured to separate corporate traffic, guest Wi‑Fi and CCTV, ensuring security and performance. Firmware across all network devices was updated to the latest versions.


Finally, six Zyxel AX210 Wi‑Fi 6 access points were installed across all three floors, delivering fast, reliable wireless connectivity for both staff and visitors.


The Result

The project result meant the office had a neat Comms Cabinet, a functioning network system, and secure internet accessible from all over the building.
