The supply and installation of a Zyxel Wi-Fi Access Point

The Challenge

Our client relied heavily on their home office Wi‑Fi to support day‑to‑day work, video calls, and business critical applications. With most of their work carried out remotely, slow speeds and unreliable connectivity were directly impacting productivity.

An initial review revealed that a previous IT provider had installed the Wi‑Fi access point externally beneath the home office. The hardware had been improperly protected from the elements, wrapped in a carrier bag, and the client was unsure of its exact location.

This setup exposed the network to performance issues, potential failures, and unnecessary risk, making it unsuitable for a modern, remote working environment.

The Process

Before carrying out any remedial work, our engineers used Fluke network testing equipment to locate the existing access point and assess the overall condition of the installation.

Testing quickly identified a faulty network cable, which was contributing to the poor performance and instability of the Wi‑Fi connection. To resolve this:

  • A new network cable was professionally installed, routed through the garden office and into the main property
  • A new Zyxel Wi‑Fi access point was installed in an appropriate, protected location
  • Comprehensive testing was carried out to confirm signal strength, speed, and reliability
This ensured the solution was not only functional, but robust, secure, and fit for long term use.

The Result

The upgraded installation delivered fast, stable, and reliable Wi‑Fi throughout the home office, allowing the client to work efficiently without disruption.
