Zyxel Outdoor Wi-fi access point installation for a mansion house
The Challenge
Vibrant Networks were appointed to conduct an outdoor Wi-Fi installation. This project was completed for a 60 by 70 metre garden for a mansion house in Wolverhampton in the West Midlands.
The client had anthracite fixtures and fittings for the exterior of the house. Unfortunately, the white Zyxel Wi-Fi access point did not match these fixtures. The next challenge was the placement of the Wi-Fi access points. These needed to be placed so they weren't visible on the house.
The Solution
To fix this problem, Vibrant Networks customised the Zyxel Wi-Fi access point to match the colour of the anthracite fixtures of the house.
The Vibrant Networks team then carried out a wireless site survey using Net Ally Fluke testers to check the secure Wi-Fi coverage in all areas of the front and back gardens. A heat map was produced, and the placement for the Wi-Fi Access point installation was decided.
To give the best coverage, the larger access point was installed at the back of the house in the centre. The smaller outdoor Wi-Fi access points were fitted at the front of the house, so the users could have internet access. The secure Wi-Fi also allowed our clients electric cars to update.
We also supplied the client a 1GB leased line with a Zyxel ATP 500 Firewall. The Zyxel GS1920 POE HP V2 Switches securely run the Zyxel Outdoor and internal Wi-Fi access points and the internal house network. The outdoor Wi-Fi access points have the capability to support 250 guests at one time.
The network and access points supplied were part of the Zyxel Nebula cloud solution, allowing the IT team to manage and update all Wi-Fi access points and entire network remotely via the cloud.
